“Camp
MendingHeart” Offers Help to Children & Teens Experiencing Grief
On October 29 and 30th, Avow will conduct “Camp
MendingHeart” for children ages 12 to 18 who have experienced the death of a significant
person in their life. The free overnight camp will be facilitated by Avow
bereavement professionals and held at Riverside Camp & Retreat Center in
Fort Denaud, Florida. Activities will include art, music, writing, team
building and special remembrance program. Transportation to and from the camp
will be offered.
According to Avow
children’s bereavement coordinator Raquel Gonzalez, “Camp MendingHeart is a
creative and therapeutic program designed to allow children to express
feelings, build coping skills and reinforce positive memories of their loved
ones.”

“Camp MendingHeart” is part of Avow’s Children’s Services.
The session is offered free of charge thanks to generous contributions from
community supporters. Avow also conducts monthly children’s grief support
groups on the first Thursday of each month and bereavement day camps for
